Beauty is in the eye of the beholder

Häävuoden ajaksi olemme ottaneet Ilpon kanssa tietynlaisen terveys- ja hyvinvointiprojektin, tavoitteena näyttää ja tuntua mahdollisimman hyvältä hääpäivänä, ja tietenkin hääpäivän jälkeen. Haluan tässä vaiheessa sanoa että nämä ovat vain ja ainoastaan minun ja meidän tavoitteet minulle ja meille. Tämän blogipostauksen tarkoitus ei ole syrjätä tai haukkua niitä jotka ei toimi samalla mallilla, vaan kertoa meidän, ja lähinnä minun tapa valmistautua häihin.

Yksi osa tästä projektista on ihon hyvinvointi, varsinkin kasvojen iho. Ihonhoito ja meikkaaminen on ollut minulle jo pitkään tärkeä ja tuttu käsite, sillä äitini on entinen kosmetologi. Olemme toivoneet että meidän häissä otetaan paljon kuvia ja haluan niissä näyttää hehkeältä, pirteältä ja terveeltä. Tottakai meikki tulee peittämään mahdolliset unenvajaukset ja epäpuhtaudet, mutta olen vahvasti sitä mieltä että hyvä valmistautuminen ja pohjatyö jo tässä vaiheessa auttaa suuresti itse päivänä.

Tähän tavoitteeseen olen saanut yhden sponsorin apuun, ihana Tiina Somersuo. Tiinalta olen saanut Oriflamen kattavan ihonhoitosarjan. Syyskuussa soiteltiin Tiinan kanssa ja hän kyseli minulta ihonhoitotavoistani sekä meikkitottumuksistani. Ihotyyppini ja ikäni perusteella Tiina valitsi minulle NovAge True Perfection hoitosarjan, johon sisältyy puhdistusgeelin, kasvoveden, silmänympärysvoiteen, seerumin, päivä- ja yövoiteen. Hän selitti minulle miten ja milloin tuotteita käytetään ja antoi muutaman vinkin mm. puhdistusgeelistä, että sitä voi käyttää perusmeikin poistamiseen.

Meikkaamisesta kerroin että arkimeikkiini kuuluu vain silmänympärys peitevoide, ripsiväri ja huulirasva. Haluaisin meikata enemmän, mutta tuntuu turhalta meikata kunnolla kun on päivän lasten kanssa töissä. Tiina ehdotti, että kokeilen NovAge Pore and Line Perfector -voidetta, joka on meikinpohjustuvoide, mutta saa ihmeitä aikaan sellaisenaan. Tämän lisäksi hän ehdotti Giordani Gold aurinkopuuterihelmiä antamaan vähän sävyä kasvoille. Kuulosti hyvältä eikä liian isolta muutokselta.

Tuotteet saapuivat postiin ja tuntui ihan joululta! Otin tuotteet samana iltana käyttöön ja ensimmäinen asia joka kiinnitti huomiota oli tuotteiden tuoksu. Olen tuoksujen ystävä, omistan (ehkä liian) monta hajuvesipulloa, joten tämä oli positiivinen yllätys minulle. Mielestäni tuoksu ei ole liian voimakas, mutta ehkä hajuherkälle se voisi olla. Puhdistusgeeli ja kasvovesi toimivat hyvin yhdessä, ja puhdistusgeeli poisti meikin erittäin hyvin, vedenkestävän ripsivärin myös! Seuraavaksi seerumi ja yövoide, ja iho tuntui puhtaalta ja kevyeltä. Lokakuun Love me do:n jälkeen tuli testattua ja todettua että puhdistusgeeli on erittäin tehokas, nimittäin ei ollut muotinäytöksen meikistä mitään jäljellä kun pesin kaikki meikit pois sillä. Ja sitä meikkiä oli paljon!

Iltaisin käyttämäni tuotteet

Aamulla heti herättyäni, käytin vain kasvovettä jonka jälkeen laitoin silmänympärysvoidetta ja seerumia. Jatkoin aamuaskareiden kanssa sillä välin, jotta tuotteet ehtivät hieman imeytyä ennen kun laitoin päivävoiteen. Taas annoin hetken aikaa imeytyä ennen kun laitoin meikinpohjustusvoiteen. Tiina varoitti että kannattaa käyttää pieniä määriä tuotteita etteivät ala "rullaamaan" iholla. No, näin tapahtui kun levitin meikinpohjustusvoiteen iholle. Pahus! Huomenna vielä vähemmän. Pyyhin rullat pois ja pysähdyin tuijottamaan ihoani peilistä. Olen käyttänyt pari pohjustusvoidetta aikasemmin, mutta kumpikaan niistä ei saanut ihoani näyttämään niin tasaiselta, sileältä ja pehmeältä kun tämä! Kasvoni ei näyttänyt meikatulta (voide on väritön geeli) mutta ei kuitenkaan näyttänyt "alastomalta". Hittituote! Siirryin aurinkopuuteriin. Yllätyin siitä että tuote oli melko punertava aurinkopuuteriksi. Kun mainitsin asiasta Tiinalle, hän vinkkasi poistamaan punaiset helmet ja käytän niitä luomiväreinä. Otin vinkin vastaan ja tämä toimi hienosti.

Aamuisin käyttämäni tuotteet

Seuraavana aamuna käytin vielä vähemmän jokaista hoitotuotetta kun edellisenä aamuna. Se oli jo sen verran vähän että tuotetta ei riittänyt koko kasvoille, joten tein päätöksen että jätän seerumin pois ja käytän sitä vain iltaisin. Tämän muutoksen jälkeen ei enää syntynyt rullia kun laitoin meikinpohjustusvoidetta.

Nyt on muutama kuukausi vierähtänyt ja olen saanut jo toisen NovAge True Perfection- pakkauksen Tiinalta. Ihonhoitotuotteet ovat edelleen mahtavia, meikinpohjustusvoide edelleen lempituotteeni meikkipussissani, ja aurinkopuuteriin olen lisännyt takaisin punaiset ja pinkit helmet, ja käytän sitä enemmän poskipunana, kun näin talvella iholla ei ole mitään merkkiä rusketuksesta mitä oli vielä silloin kun alotin helmien käyttöä.

For our wedding year, Ilpo and I have started a health and wellbeing project, with the aim to feel and look as good as possible on our wedding day and of course after it. At this point I would like to say that these only my and our aims for myself and us. The aim of this blogpost is not to shame anyone who does not do the same things as us, but rather to tell you mainly about how I am preparing for the big day.

One part of this project is skin well being, especially on the face. Skincare and make up have been a familiar and important concept to me for a long time, as my mother used to be a beautician. We wish that a lot of photos will be taken at our wedding and in those photos I want to look fresh, radiant and healthy. Of course make up will cover blemishes and signs of sleep deprivation, but I really do believe that good preparation and base work now will help a lot on the day itself.

For this part of the project I have received help from a sponsor, the lovely Tiina Somersuo. Tiina has sent me a variety of skincare products by Oriflame. In September, Tiina phoned me and asked me about my skincare routines and habits along with my make up habits. Based on my age and skin type, Tiina chose the NovAge True Perfection package, which includes a cleanser, toner, eye contour gel, serum and day and night cream. She explained to me how and when the products are to be used and gave me a few tips, like for example, the cleanser can also be used as a make up remover.

About my daily make up routine, I told her that I only use under eye concealer, mascara and lipbalm. I would like to use more make up during the week, but it feels like a waste as I work with children. Tiina suggested that I try NovAge Pore and Line Perfector, which is a make up primer but works wonders on its own. In addition to this she suggested the Giordani Gold bronzing pearls to give my skin a bit of colour. This sounded good and not too much of a change. 

The products arrived in the post and it felt like Christmas! I started using the products that same evening, and the first thing I noticed was how they smell. I love fragrances and own (maybe too) many perfumes, so this came as a positive surprise for me. I personally do not think that the smell is too strong but maybe someone who is sensitive to smell might find it strong. The cleanser and toner worked well together, and the cleanser washed off all my make up, including waterproof mascara! Next up I applied the serum and night cream, and my skin felt clean and light. After the Love me do fair in October, it was tried and proved that the cleanser really is effective, as it washed off all the make up I had on for the fashion show. And there was a lot of it! 

The products I use in the evening

As soon as I woke up in the morning, I wiped my face with the tone and applied the eye contour gel and serum. I carried on with my morning chores to let the products absorb into my skin before applying the day cream. I again let it absorb before applying the primer. Tiina warned me that I should use small amounts of the products so that they do not "roll" on my skin. Well, this is exactly what happened when I applied the primer. Bugger! Tomorrow I use less. I wiped off the rolls and stopped to stare at my skin in the mirror. I have used a couple of different primers before, but neither of them had made my skin look as smooth, even and soft as this one! It did not look as if I had make up on (the product is a clear gel) but it did not look naked either. Smash hit! I moved on to the bronzing pearls. I was surprised at how many red and pink pearls there were considering it was a bronzer. When I mentioned this to Tiina, she advised me to take out the pink and red pearls and use them as eyeshadow. I took her advice and this worked great. 

The products I use in the morning

The next morning I used even less of the products than I did the previous morning. It ended up being so little that it did not even cover my whole face, so I made the decision to leave the serum out of the morning routine and use it just in the evening. After this change the products did not roll on my skin after I applied the primer. 

Now it has been a few months and I have already received a second NovAge True Perfection set from Tiina. The skincare products are still great, the primer is still my favourite product in my make up bag and I have re-added the red and pink pearls to the bronzer and now I use it as a blusher, since now in the winter there is no sign of the tan I had when I started using the pearls.
